Hiring a pensioner and paying pension and salary

$
0
0

Hi,

We have to rehire a pensioner and pay pension (monthly) as well as salary (bi-weekly). Person was an employee before, got retired and changed employment status to retiree and is currently receiving pension through the pension payroll. In legacy it is done by assigning separate pernr for the pensioners so that processing is isolated between employee status and pensioner status of the same person. What would be the best practice in this scenario? Appreciate all comments.

Unemployment tax wages should stop accumulating at $32,000 for the calendar year

$

Hi All,

New Jersey unemployment wage type /710 & /731 amounts are not calculating correctly for some employees who have transferred from NY to NJ.

The NJ calculated taxable wages need to take into account the taxable wages earned in NY.

The combined total of taxable wages should stop accumulating at $32,000 for the calendar year.

However, there are employees for whom combined taxable wages exceed this amount.

Wage type /718, /720, /724 & /741 amounts are calculating correctly for NJ employees and wage type /710 & /731 amounts should be the same as those four wage types.

When an employee changes his or her unemployment state, the employer unemployment taxable wages (/710) from the previous state are correctly taken into consideration when determining the taxable wages for the new state.

Max unemployment taxable  Limit of New jersey is $32000.

Max unemployment taxable  Limit of New York    is $10500.

Here an employee relocates from New york (unemployment taxable limit of $10,500) to New Jersey (unemployment taxable limit of $32,000). If /710 for New york has reached $10,500 prior to the relocation, then /710 for New Jersey will stop at $21,500 (since $10,500 plus $21,500 equals $32,000).

Could you please provide some inputs for the above mentioned issue.

Siraj.

HSA wagetype taxation Issue

$

0

I configured a employer contribution wagetype that would not add to gross and that would be taxable for Alabama and NJ.

But I notice that federal tax gets bumped up as well. The new processing class Z was done for AL and Tax type 1.

Should a HSA WT be expected to deduct taxes like this as shown in Case 2 ?

Please explain the reasoning behind this behavior?

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Case 1) When PCRL 68, 69 and 71 are all blank on the wagetype and no taxes are deducted; below is the calculation I see

When using the SAP program, rpupayus_sync_tax_data, and select Process Tax Authority Mappings only, I can do this in my DEV system as this is set for a development system, but is greyed out in my higher systems. How can I map these automatically using this, or am I stuck doing these manually in the higher systems?

Does anyone know what the table(s) that contains the mappings are, for each type, to manually create a transport for this? Tax Codes, Tax Types.....

/TM1 & /TM2 cannot be entered in IT 0221 for hourly employees?

We have employee's pre pay their Social security before beginning their retirement receipts.  This is normally entered on an IT 0221 for the employee and processed.  Part of that entry is the /TM1 & /TM2 wage types.  In the past this has not been a problem; but they have all been salaried employees.  We have our first long time hourly employee that will receive benefits.  But it will not allow us to enter the /TM1 & /TM2 on the IT 0221 screen for the hourly employee.  We receive the message "not permitted for EE subgroup grouping 1.

Can someone tell me why this is the case and what I would need to change in configuration to allow these wage types to be entered for this grouping?

Hi,

Currently we are deleting error messages in BSI system, by selecting one by one.

We have weekly and Monthly payroll runs, for every run system is storing the messages, now the error messages file size is around 11 GB stored messages from Oct/2014.

Instead of deleting one by one messages is there any process to delete these messages in Bulk.

Please find the attachment, here am selecting one one by one message and deleting the entries. Do we have any way to delete all these messages in bulk.

Naresh.

Alberta tax changes effective October 1, 2015

While Canadian Income Tax changes are usually effective on January 1 and July 1 of each year, due to the summer election and subsequent budget in Alberta, there are changes being introduced as of October 1, 2015.

The tax changes are realized through the introduction of four new tax brackets (i.e. table changes).  Given that the prescribed rate changes are effective Jan 1, 2015 and that the changes are being introduced as of October 1, the rate difference is being introduced at 4 times the difference in order to collect the full 2015 amount in just 3 months.  Expect the rates to revert to the new values for the first pay in January 2016.

We have an issue where an employee’s dependents (Child, Step Child, Child of DP) are eligible for benefits until the end of the calendar month that they attain the age of 26. Currently, SAP allows dependents to be added up until their 26th birthday.  For example, a dependent with a date of birth of 08/15/1989 can be added to a benefit plan with an effective date prior to 08/15/2015.  However, SAP will not allow this same dependent to be added from 08/16 through 08/31

Health Care Reform Reporting requirements (ACA)

$

As an update, we (PASSHE) just had a call with the SAP Product Manager on the IRS requirements to deliver reports for IRS sections 6055 and 6056. At this point, SAP says that custom reports/forms would need to developed to meet these requirements. Based on our understanding of these requirements, specifically for forms 1095-C and 1094-C described below, these requirements will be very time consuming and costly for companies to address with custom reports and forms. However, if your company has already developed specifications for the development of these reports/forms, please respond to this forum. Likewise, if you do not have customization plans and feel these requirements should be addressed by a standard SAP solution like W2's, COBRA, New Hire Reporting etc., please provide your response as well.

Benefits calculation from 27 pays to 26 pays?

Hello Experts,

I am looking for some direction on a problem we are having.  My business partners would like our benefit deductions for calendar year 2016 to calculate at 26 pays instead of 27 pays.  I have attempted to create a new payment model and assigned it to our benefit plans, but the calculation is still using 27 pays.

So, I have created 2 new payment models one for Hourly and one for Salary.  Also, I have setup the pay periods too, but this configuration I am not sure is correct?  Then, I have assigned our benefit plans to these new payment models in Benefits integration.

New Employees, Payroll transitioned to SAP mid-quarter, Amounts Incorrect

$

We have a need to bring on new employees from a company we purchased effective 8/1/2015.

We are expected to produce their quarterly tax reports for Q3, 7/1/2015 - 9/30/2015.

We are expected to produce their W-2s at year end effective 1/1/2015 - 12/31/2015.

We were going to use /221 to load starting balances with an 8/1/2015 start date; however that results in an incorrect wage amount for the quarterly tax reporting because it is all wages from 1/1 - 7/31 (well thru 9/30 once we run additional payrolls) and it should be 7/1 - 7/31 (well thru 9/30 once we run additional payrolls).

With the employee not being active in our system until 8/1, we cannot have anything on their records dated prior to 8/1, do you have suggestions for how to can get the correct amounts for tax reporter to use for Q3 reporting?
